Welcome to ME, and my continuing developement toward completing my Bachelors Degree.
- What is information design?
- How can I use information design?
- How can information design be used by management?
- Is information design needed in the HVACR & appliance repair/installation field?
Some means of developing and understanding information design are:
- The Back of the Napkin – Dan Roam
- Information Design – Robert Jacobson
- Information Design Workbook – Kim Baer
I also found a few web references that help better understand information design and its progression and application through the centuries.

Future installments will be available with examples of information design and ways to use it.
Also in coming posts, the progression of information designs will be outlined and demonstrated.
Suggestions and constructive criticism is welcome. Please feel free to provide ideas and suggestions on ways to make the most of this blog.
Other topics will include photography, Xbox Live, Xbox games, shooting, and family developement, as well as other possible topics that may arise out of need and interest over time.

Hi Chad;
You selected a very unique template or style for your blog. The picture is beautiful. The black sides highlight the colors in the picture and draw the eye to it. The layout of the content is all set in squares and rectangles, with similar styles for headings. The Blue and green colors you used in the headings compliment the picture colors. The font size though appears very small and is hard to read. Your use of green for the website references is hard to read as well, they get lost in the blue background. Maybe if they were bold they would stand out more.
I liked the over-all design of your blog. The approach you took to list the text books as references to understand more was creative. I liked that addition. It might have more impact if it was in a section by itself. You might have considered that though and placed them in the post for an artistic reason. I liked your use of “Information Design, understanding & explorarion” but the color of purple makes it almost unreadable. You also have a spelling error as I assume “explorarion” is exploration. That is a really catchy phrase and I think it should stand out more and be larger in font size. The “RSS feeds” in green at the top right (in the Hey There sentence) also is very hard to read. Did you create this on a Mac? I have found color issue on slides before from Mac to PC viewing so I was wondering if this was the case here.
I also liked that you put future installments in your post-that peaks interest and engages followers. I think that would have also looked good as its own section rather than part of the first post. Why did you choose darkwarrior as a title? Is that something you used in a previous, personal blog? As this blog is for a class assignment, I think the title could be more applicable to the assignment. Did you consider that or does darkwarrior signify something? It stands out to me because it does not seem to fit within the context of the blog. Also, I was curious why you used the big calendar? It seems out of place to me, but I have never “blogged” before so perhaps it is commonly used. Also, the link to the About page is actually still the template. You might want to fill that in or delete it.
I think the statements “Suggestions and constructive criticism is welcome. Please feel free to provide ideas and suggestions on ways to make the most of this blog.” are a nice touch. Did you consider placing it by comment section? Right now it is in-between a note about future posts and other topics. It seems in the middle of those two similar statements. What is the significance of “Other topics will include photography, Xbox Live, Xbox games, shooting, and family developement, as well as other possible topics that may arise out of need and interest over time”? This seems unrelated to the blog purpose and is out-of-place. Also note the spelling error of the word “development”. I really like this welcome, “Welcome to ME, and my continuing developement toward completing my Bachelors Degree.” (Note the spelling of development again here). This also seems in the wrong spot and perhaps should be on the top, at the beginning, to welcome your blog readers. I also think you have to answer the question of what is information design in the actual content of the post per the assignment. Additionally, I wondered why you have categories, then uncategorized? While looking at the blog page it looks like you forgot to include something there or intended to delete it (just my interpretation).
Overall, the blog style and design was really impressive looking. I think you have some unique creative items on your blog page. It seems that some of the color choices and arrangements could be more clear and organized to enhance the presentation of the blog and present the information more effectively. I hope my feedback helps.

Hi Chad,
I don’t know if you have made changes since Lisa’s comment but I find the font is easy to read and don’t have any problem reading the green text (this could be different on different computers). I like how you have questions 1-4 but I don’t think you answered 3 and 4. I would have included that in this sentence – “Future installments will be available with examples of information design and ways to use it.” – or add an additional sentence referencing 3 and 4. I also wish you explained information design more and then reference the links for further information. I don’t think your other topics really fit here unless you plan on incorporating them into the assignments. I really like your last sentence “Welcome to ME, and my continuing developement toward completing my Bachelors Degree.” I would have put that up top with “My SUNY: Empire State College Blog or cry for help?” – I think would make a great introduction.
Hi Chad:
I see that you did make changes to the blog since I wrote my comments. This design makes it much easier to read the text and font color choices are improved.
Hi Chad, I like that your user name (is that the correct terminology?) for this blog goes in theme with your layout. I enjoy the use of the dark background picture (a nice picture, too) and the font being much lighter (which I see was a suggestion from a fellow classmate). I am new to blogging so I look for blogs that I can read with ease and the flow. I think your blog is easy to read and flows nicely (layout wise).
